Rockin' Rosemary Oven Fries

Note: Rosemary is plant that has unusual leaves. They're kind of like the needles on a Christmas tree. Rosemary smells great and the leaves are often used to flavor food.

Prep time: 40 minutes

What you need:

  • 2 large potatoes, peeled and cut into ¼"-½" strips
  • 1 tablespoon canola oil
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary leaves
  • sea salt and pepper to taste
  • canola oil spray

Equipment and supplies:

  • oven (have an adult help you)
  • knife for slicing fries (have an adult help you)
  • pot
  • measuring spoons
  • large bowl
  • non-stick baking pan

What to do:

  1. Preheat oven to 450° Fahrenheit (232° Celsius).
  2. Coat baking pan with canola oil spray
  3. Soak peeled and cut potatoes in warm water for 5-10 minutes; dry on paper towels.
  4. In large bowl, toss potatoes with canola oil, garlic powder, and rosemary.
  5. Place potatoes in single layer on the baking pan; season with sea salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Bake for 30 minutes until golden brown, turning potatoes once or twice during cooking.
